PGD and PGS are genetic tests of embryos created through IVF, done before an embryo is transferred. PGD looks for a specific inherited condition known in the family, while PGS checks embryos for an abnormal number of chromosomes. Clinics now often call them PGT-M and PGT-A. How the programme works

Case review
We go through your history and prepare the questions for a genetic specialist at the clinic.

IVF cycle
Testing is part of an IVF cycle: eggs are collected and fertilised, and embryos are grown in the laboratory.

Biopsy and testing
The clinic takes a few cells from each suitable embryo and sends them to the laboratory, while the embryos are frozen.

Results and transfer
The clinic's doctor explains the results and plans the transfer. We coordinate the dates and your travel.

- Testing does not guarantee pregnancy or a healthy child, and it cannot detect every condition
- Some embryos may give unclear results, and in some cycles no embryo may be suitable for transfer
